Dr. H. David Schuringa is a graduate of Trinity Christian College (B.A.), Westminster Theological Seminary, Philadelphia (M.A.R.; M.Div.), Calvin Theological Seminary (Th.M.) and the Theologische Universiteit te Kampen, the Netherlands (Ph.D.). His doctoral dissertation is entitled “Hearing the Word in a Visual Age.” He is a minister in the Christian Reformed Church in North America (CRCNA).

Dr. Schuringa was the senior pastor of two established churches in West Michigan and planted a church in Southern California. He taught for nine years at Westminster Seminary California and served as an adjunct professor at Calvin Theological Seminary and Kuyper College in Grand Rapids. He has guest-lectured at various seminaries and has served on a variety of boards and committees.

In 1999, Dr. Schuringa was appointed president of the rapidly growing ministry of Crossroad Bible Institute. He founded the CBI Publishing Center (2000), the Center for Advanced Studies at Crossroad Bible Institute (2005) and Crossroad Correctional Services (2010). He hosts the weekly web and cable TV program Crossroad Connection, a voice for restorative justice.

Dr. Schuringa is a member of the Communities of Faith Advisory Council at the Brennan Center for Justice at New York University of Law and has visited Capitol Hill to advocate for the Democracy Restoration Act. In 2014, Dr. Schuringa was appointed by Gov. Rick Snyder to serve on the Michigan Indigent Defense Commission.

Joined by thousands of volunteers, a professional staff and an accomplished board of directors, Dr. Schuringa leads the largest discipleship and advocacy agency of its kind for people in prison and their families around the world.
